Who You Talk To

Detectivetracks Plumbing does not have plumbers on staff. When you reach out, you end up talking with an independent provider in our network. That provider is a separate local business. It runs its own schedule, sets its own prices, and does its own work.

A helpful comparison is a ride-share app. The app brings you and a driver together. The driver is the one who takes you where you are going.

What Happens on the Call

Expect a few plain questions. What is going wrong? Where in the house is it? Is water spreading? Has this happened before? Your answers help the provider decide what kind of visit makes sense and what to bring.

The provider may offer a rough idea of cost, or may want to see the problem first. Both are normal. Plumbing costs vary a lot by job, so a written quote after an inspection is the safest number to rely on.

What to Ask a Plumber

A few questions can make the whole job smoother.

  • Are you licensed and insured for this kind of work?
  • Will you give me a written estimate before starting?
  • What is included, and what could change the price?
  • How long do you expect the job to take?
  • Can you help document the damage for an insurance claim?
  • What can I do afterward to keep this from happening again?

That last question matters. A good provider will gladly explain upkeep for older cast-iron or galvanized pipes, drain habits, and winter protection.

You Are in Control

You do not have to accept the first estimate. Ask for more than one if time allows, and compare them side by side. Look at scope, materials, and timing, not just the total. If a price seems unclear, ask the provider to explain it line by line.

If water is actively flooding, shutting off the main valve while you wait is a sensible first step. Your provider can show you where it is.
